Top 10 Best Wide Receiver Seasons in NFL History

I have already talked about the best Wide Receivers ever, now this list honors the best Wide Receiver seasons ever. This will consider their stats throughout the season including receptions, yards, touchdowns and yards per reception. Not only that, I will consider their supporting cast along with the eye test to determine who were the best.

#10 – Mark Clayton

Every Batman needs a Robin. Dan Marino was posting 5000+ passing yard seasons in the 80s when it was thought to be unbreakable and it was Mark Clayton who helped him do it.

Speed kills and Mark Clayton was a burner on the outside. His 18 receiving touchdowns are even more impressive considering he only played 15 games this season. Defensive backs could not contain him as he averaged an astounding 19 yards per reception. To put that in today’s perspective, D.K. Metcalf is considered one of the best deep threats in the game and only averaged 16 yards per reception.

BUT… BUT…. He was apart of the greatest show on turf. Of course his numbers are going to be great in an elite offense with Kurt Warner throwing to him. Hate to break it to you, but this was before Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk.

Isaac Bruce was putting up hall of famers with the Quarterbacks Chris Miller and Mark Rypien throwing to him. You have no idea who those two QBs are? I don’t blame you. They were mediocre players with an elite Wide Receiver to throw to. Isaac Bruce was that good and his stats reflect it as recording 1800 yards in this 90s was unheard of for someone not named Jerry Rice.

#8 – Marvin Harrison

Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison were an unstoppable duo. In 2001, the Colts went 6-10 and missed the playoffs. This duo was a driving force for turning that around and making the playoffs.

Talent aside, both of these players were two of the most high IQ ever and they were always on the same page.  Marvin Harrison did not drop passes and because of that he broke the record for most catches in a season with 143 which stood for nearly 143. On top of that he had nearly 1800 yards and 11 touchdowns .
