Kansas City Chiefs Record Prediction & Game-By-Game Breakdown 2021-22

It’s scary to consider a team that has made it to back-to-back Super Bowls improved even more this off-season. That is the case for the Kansas City Chiefs. The real glaring issue for this team last season was their offensive line. After signing Joe Thuney and trading for Orlando Brown, that issue has been addressed.

With these changes the sky is the limit for this offense. I’m not joking when I say this offense has the potential to be the highest scoring in NFL history as the pieces are in place for Patrick Mahomes to dominate.

The combination of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce seems to get better every year. While the depth at WR of Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, Cornell Powell and Byron Pringle is concerning, they don’t need to be special. As long as they are somewhat reliable behind the stud pairing of Tyreek and Kelce, they will succeed.

I’m also very high on the sophomore season of Clyde Edwards-Helaire. We saw his flashes at a few points last season, but ultimately the inconsistency didn’t match up the pre-season hype of Helaire. With the improvement at offensive line and him having a full off-season under his belt, I expect him to improve on his rookie season.

My main concern is this defense. Of course this hasn’t been the money side of the ball for the Chiefs, but this defense has played well over their two Super Bowl runs and have some concerning issues going into the 2021 season.

The main issue is Frank Clark. His arrest is almost certainly going to lead to a suspension from the NFL. He has been their most consistent pass rusher and without him leaves a cause for concern. They may address this by signing someone from the watered down free agency, but I can’t expect them to make much of an impact.

As long as their secondary continues to play well, it will make up for the woes from their front 7.

Much like I said for the lack of depth at Wide Receiver, as long as this defense is somewhat reliable, the Chiefs will win games. Their Patrick Mahomes led offense is that good.
