Dallas Cowboys Record Prediction & Game-By-Game Breakdown 2021-22

CHANGES

People love to hate the Cowboys and rightfully so. The fans are loud and when you’re called America’s Team and have no success in the past decade to show for it, expect jokes coming your way. I’ll tell you who you can’t hate on this team. That person is Dak Prescott. With him back in the lineup, this team looks very different from last season.

OFFENSE

Dak Prescott was on pace to shatter the single season passing yards record last season. When he went down it was clear the Cowboys had no shot at playoffs. He is a difference maker who was replaced by a washed Andy Dalton and a nobody in Ben DiNucci.

Not only was he injured last season, this Cowboys offensive line was also plagued with the injury bug. Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, and La’el Collins were all injured last season and were all an integral part of this offense. Very bad luck for the Cowboys and it showed.

While the Cowboys are not the unanimous best offensive line that they once were, they are still very important for the rushing attack. Ezekiel Elliott had his worst season as a pro. While his fumbling issues were unacceptable, expect him to bounce back with a healthy o-line and Dak Prescott. If not Tony Pollard is one of the best kept secrets in the NFL. He will emerge eventually whether it’s for the Cowboys or a different NFL team.

The passing attack is something trending upwards. Amari Cooper, Ceedee Lamb and Michael Gallup are arguably the best WR trio in the NFL. This offense has weapons.

DEFENSE

The Cowboys defense is their weakness. In 2020 they were horrible, and I do mean horrible. There are a lot of holes on this defense, but they did make a change in regime.

Former Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn is now the defensive coordinator and will reunite with some of his key players. Remember the Legion of Boom? This was the defensive mind behind that scheme.

When it comes to a Mr. Irreplaceable on defense it is no other than Demarcus Lawrence. He continues to wreak havoc on Quarterbacks with his pressure. Jaylon Smith is also worth mentioning as the leading tackler, but he has been very inconsistent.

Dan Quinn going to have quite a challenge improving this defense. There are some good players and some really bad players. In specific, the secondary is severely depleted with little to no depth to show for.

OVERALL

It’s clear that the Dallas Cowboys offense will make or break this team. They are one of the best units in the NFL and will have to make up for their defensive woes all season.

While people love to hate the Cowboys, I’m making this Cowboys record prediction as objective as possible. I believe this team is good enough to come out first in the NFC East. It will be a competitive division which is why 9 wins is enough to have them on top.
