Christian Gonzalez, Pat Surtain, Derek Stingley Jr., Quinyon Mitchell and Devon Witherspoon make up Tier 1 of the best cornerbacks in the NFL today through Week 2. The top two tiers remain stable, but the middle of the ranking has already started moving, led by L’Jarius Sneed’s four-tier rise into Tier 4.
This is an in-season update based on where each cornerback stands so far this season. A green arrow means a player moved up from the previous ranking, while a red arrow means he moved down. The number inside the arrow shows exactly how many tiers the player gained or lost.

FAQ
What do the green and red arrows mean?
A green arrow means a cornerback moved up from the previous ranking, while a red arrow means he moved down. The number inside the arrow shows how many tiers the player gained or lost.
Who moved up the most through Week 2?
L’Jarius Sneed made the biggest jump, climbing four tiers into Tier 4.
Did anyone move into or out of Tier 1?
No. Christian Gonzalez, Pat Surtain, Derek Stingley Jr., Quinyon Mitchell and Devon Witherspoon all remain in Tier 1.
Why can these rankings change quickly early in the season?
Only two weeks of the season have been played, so the current sample is still small. Early performance can create meaningful movement, but the tiers can shift again quickly as more games are added.
Conclusion
The top of the cornerback rankings remains remarkably stable through Week 2, with Tier 1 and Tier 2 completely unchanged. The real story is farther down the board, where L’Jarius Sneed’s four-tier surge stands out as the biggest move of the young season.
With the season still in its opening stages, these tiers should continue to move as the sample grows and early starts become easier to separate from longer-term trends.
