Denver Broncos Draft Grade 2020
The Denver Broncos are my choice for the dark horse team to turn it around next season and that has a lot to do with their impressive 2020 NFL draft.
Courtland Sutton was a beast last season and Drew Lock just got two more lethal weapons. Jerry Jeudy is an elite route runner who should have his skills translate immediately to the NFL. K.J. Hamler is more of a physical specimen who should be their take the top off the defense type threat.
Michael Ojemudia is probably my least favorite pick as he did little else but run zone coverage in college. It will be interesting to see whether or not he can play man coverage at the NFL level.
The Broncos then fished with some great value picks such as Agim and Muti.
Kansas City Chiefs Draft Grade 2020
I wasn’t expecting the Clyde Edwards-Helaire pick in the first round, but it makes complete sense. Andy Reid has a history with dual threat running backs, and Damien Williams can’t stay healthy. Edwards-Helaire can do it all and the Chiefs have arguably the most friendly system for RBs.
Willie Gay was a pick that made more sense. The Chiefs Linebackers were their main weakness last season and character concerns aside, Willie Gay tested off the charts in terms of athletic profile. He is 6’1″, 245 pounds and runs a 4.46 40 yard dash.
The Chiefs then followed with some safe picks in Niang and Sneed.
Las Vegas Raiders Draft Grade 2020
Too many people classify Henry Ruggs as strictly a deep threat. He is far more refined than he gets credit for and his skills will translate to the NFL with ease. I would have rather drafted Lamb or Jeudy, but I won’t be picking hairs with this selection. The Raiders love drafting some of the fastest NFL players ever and Ruggs is a far better player than someone like Darrius Heyward Bey.
Damon Arnette on the other hand is a complete failure. He won most of his battles in college due to his aggressiveness and physically, but grades very poorly athletically. It was a huge reach to me when there were much better secondary players on the board.
Lynn Bowden and Tanner Muse were also questionable picks, but at least they didn’t invest that high of draft capital.
They also redeemed themselves with drafting Amik Robertson at a tremendous value.
Los Angeles Chargers Draft Grade 2020
Justin Herbert seemed like the obvious pick and most mock drafts had him going to the Chargers. I was not a fan of the pick. He has a massive arm, but fell apart against top competition. He is not it mentally and I find it hard to believe he will make much of an impact considering the shortened off-season.
Kenneth Murray was a solid pick with the 23rd pick, but he isn’t a do it all off-ball linebacker. I think there was better defensive talent on the board that made more sense.
They then finished off the draft with many picks that leave much to be desired.
