Los Angeles Chargers Record Prediction & Game-By-Game Breakdown 2021-22

OFFENSE

Brandon Staley hit the jackpot stepping in as the Head Coach for the Los Angeles Chargers. This young roster is stacked with one of the most promising futures in the NFL.

It all starts with Justin Herbert. Nobody came close to predicting just how dominant he was in his rookie season. It was record record. Going in his sophomore season he should be even better.

He will now have a full off-season under his belt and a more healthy offense to deal with. Austin Ekeler will be a nice security blanket to have at running back as well as Keenan Allen and Mike Williams out wide. The only real loss was Hunter Henry, but they did end up signing Jared Cook as a replacement.

What has me the most excited is the addition of Corey Linsley at Center. That was a massive signing and stacking up the offensive line is exactly what you should do for your franchise Quarterback.

DEFENSE

Head Coach Brandon Staley is a defensive minded coach so it will be very telling to see the impact he makes schematically. The Chargers were a middle of the pack defense at best last season, but their roster looks much better than that.

Something can be said for missing Derwin James all season. He was an all-pro as a rookie and will likely end up being regarded as the best safety in the NFL at some point of his career.

Up front there is no more Melvin Ingram, but Joey Bosa is still on top of his game. Replacing Ingram is Uchenna Nwosu who has shown spurts, but is still a big question mark.

All in all there are a bunch of young assets on this defense and it will be interesting to see how Staley uses them. There is a lot of untapped potential and Staley needs to bring the best out of them.

OVERALL

The Chargers are a playoff team who I see making the playoffs. The problem is it’s hard for a roster this young to be serious Super Bowl contenders. I can see them making it out of the first round, but that’s it. Ultimately they won’t make it past the Chiefs in the Playoffs. They will split the series during the season, but I’m betting on the experience of the Chiefs. The Chargers Record Prediction is 10-7.
