NBA Hierarchy - 2022-23 Best Boston Celtics Players

Best Boston Celtics Players Today

Tier 1:

Jayson Tatum:

2022-23 Season Stats: 30.9 points per game, .473 field goal percentage, 3.1 assists per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, 1.1 steals per game, 0.9 blocks per game, 2.7 turnovers per game

As one of the MVP favorites, Jayson Tatum is clearly the best player on this team. He is the best player on the best team in the NBA. Tatum can do it all.

Jaylen Brown:

2022-23 Season Stats: 27.1 points per game, .495 field goal percentage, 3.4 assists per game, 7.3 rebounds per game, 1.2 steals per game, 0.4 blocks per game, 3.1 turnovers per game

I was tempted to include Jaylen Brown in the second tier. Jayson Tatum is the best Boston Celtics player, but Brown has been having a career year and deserves the recognition.

Tier 2:

Robert Williams:

2022-23 Season Stats: 8.3 points per game, .833 field goal percentage, 1.1 assists per game, 7.3 rebounds per game, 0.4 steals per game, 1.0 blocks per game, 1.1 turnovers per game

While Robert Williams has missed a lot of games this season, he is a beast. He will make a massive difference going forward in the paint offensively and defensively.

Tier 3:

Malcolm Brogden:

2022-23 Season Stats: 13.0 points per game, .471 field goal percentage, 3.8 assists per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 0.5 steals per game, 0.3 blocks per game, 1.8 turnovers per game

Now that Malcolm Brogden has left the Pacers, he has to do a lot less. The Celtics don’t rely on him as much leaving him with less minutes and production. He has fit nicely as a role player.

Derrick White:

2022-23 Season Stats: 10.1 points per game, .452 field goal percentage, 3.1 assists per game, 3.0 rebounds per game, 0.8 steals per game, 0.8 blocks per game, 1.0 turnovers per game

Just like Malcolm Brogden, Derrick White has a reduced role now on the Boston Celtics. He has become a valuable role player.

Marcus Smart:

2022-23 Season Stats: 11.2 points per game, .423 field goal percentage, 7.4 assists per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 1.4 steals per game, 0.4 blocks per game, 2.2 turnovers per game

He’s not as dominant of a defender as he was last season, however, he’s still one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. Marcus Smart is also recording a career bests in assists per game.

Al Horford:

2022-23 Season Stats: 9.7 points per game, .490 field goal percentage, 2.6 assists per game, 6.3 rebounds per game, 0.4 steals per game, 1.1 blocks per game, 0.6 turnovers per game

Somehow at 36 years old, Al Horford is still getting the job done. That’s what happens when you build a reputation as one of the best defenders in the NBA.

Tier 4:

Grant Williams:

2022-23 Season Stats: 9.0 points per game, .516 field goal percentage, 1.6 assists per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, 0.8 steals per game, 0.3 blocks per game, 0.9 turnovers per game

Sam Hauser:

Tier 6:

Justin Jackson:

2022-23 Season Stats: 0.6 points per game, .424 field goal percentage, 0.4 assists per game, 0.5 rebounds per game, 0.2 steals per game, 0.1 blocks per game, 0.1 turnovers per game
