#2 – Baltimore Ravens
I had my doubts about Lamar Jackson, but he has proved me wrong. Albeit not perfect, Lamar made some massive strides as a passer on route to an MVP season. Expect him to continue to be a record breaking running Quarterback.
Ravens OC Greg Roman has talked about a more balanced approach next season and I buy it. Two seasons ago they were league leaders in rushing attempts and all signs point to a similar approach. Mark Ingram has proved he’s still got it and J.K. Dobbins will create a much more dominant two-headed monster over Gus Edwards.
Marquise Brown has freakish speed, but is still raw as a wide receiver. He was a non-factor in too many games, but is still very young. They also drafted Devin Duvernay in the 3rd round who I believe will push out Willie Snead for that slot role.
Mark Andrews is the real #1 option for Jackson. He just had his breakout season and is one of the most lethal receiving threats at tight end in the NFL.
Marshall Yanda is a huge loss for the offensive line and the health of Matt Skura is still up in the air. This is not something a 3rd and 4th round pick can fix completely. This offensive line will take a hit, but continue to be one of the best in the league.
#1 – Kansas City Chiefs
Patrick Mahomes is all that. He’s that guy. If i’m betting on anyone to win MVP next season it’s Mahomes. Andy Reid is the Quarterback whisperer and he drafted a once in a decade talent and armed him with with a perfect fit of weapons.
I do it in madden. Draft the fastest guys run past everyone. Reid has armed Patrick Mahomes with 3 of the fastest players in the NFL in Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Sammy Watkins. They perfectly compliment the massive arm of Mahomes and nobody has proved to be able to stop them.
It also helps when Travis Kelce is the best receiving tight end in the league. He is a wide receiver playing tight end and is a way better blocker than people give him credit for.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire enters the most running back friendly system in the NFL. Reid loves his dual threat running backs, and Helaire was the best of the draft. Damian Williams was a Super Bowl hero, but struggles to stay healthy. These two combine for a seriously underrated running back duo.
If you’re going to nitpick, this offensive line is the weakness of this offense. That being said they don’t enough credit. Mitchell Schwartz is and elite tackle and the cast around him benefits from a great offensive system. They also get bailed out on a lot of sacks thanks to Mahomes uncanny ability to escape the pocket and make impossible throws.
