#4 – Dallas Cowboys
People love to hate the Cowboys. This list is objective. The Cowboys objectively have a top 10 Quarterback, Running Back, Offensive Line and Wide Receiving trio in the NFL.
Dak Prescott is on a contract year this season and the Cowboys brought in Andy Dalton to apply some pressure. Ultimately I believe Dak will step up this season and earn a massive payday either during or after the season.
It helps when you have this good of a receiving corp. Michael Gallup had a breakout season along with borderline top 10 Wide receiver Amari Cooper. That’s not all. They drafted Ceedee Lamb this season who I believe is the most refined of this years deep draft class. This is a dream team at Wide Receiver.
Long time Cowboys Jason Witten signed with the Raiders this off-season so this is now Blake Jarwin’s job to lose at Tight End. Spoiler alert: he isn’t that good.
The most polarizing player on this team is Ezekiel Elliott and I see why. He speaks his mind and has had some questionable off the field behavior. On the field though, he is in tier 1 for running backs in terms of talent and runs behind the stacked Cowboys offensive line.
Travis Frederick retired this off-season, but they still have their core group of guys including his replacement Joe Looney. They also drafted Tyler Biadasz who could make an impact early behind proven minds on the line.
#3 – New Orleans Saints
Last season was very telling for the Saints offense. This team is refined top to bottom and when Brees went down they did not skip a beat.
There has been a lot of speculation that this will be the final season for Brees before he retires. You know what, I believe it. The Saints clearly have the succession plan in place, but don’t let that make you think Brees doesn’t give them the best chance to win. This is still the most accurate Quarterback in NFL history and this is a fine tuned machine with him at the helm.
Michael Thomas is fresh off a record breaking season and twitter battle with Davante Parker. You can question his production all you want, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If it were that simple teams would have shut it down a long time ago. Emmanuel Sanders joins the receiving corp which should take even more pressure off Thomas.
Alvin Kamara had the worst season of his 3 year career, but i’m still in on the talent. Kamara was battling injuries and he will return to his old dominant self next season. He prospered as the change of pace running back alongside Mark Ingram and I believe Sean Payton will take a similar approach this season alongside Latavius Murray.
The icing on the cake is this offensive line. They only allowed 25 sacks last season and got even better this season adding Cesar Ruiz in the first round of the draft.
