#4 – Super Bowl LII – Eagles 41, Patriots 33

Sometimes you have to listen to what people are saying about you for motivation. The theme throughout the entire playoffs was the Eagles being underdogs. Players mentioned it consistently throughout interviews. They embodied the underdog mentality.

The Patriots were the defending Super Bowl champions, so it’s not a shocker the Eagles were the underdogs. The Eagles also had Carson Wentz go down to injury meaning Nick Foles was the one who had to lead them to the promise land. Nobody could have predicted what would happen next.

It was a 15-15 game by halftime, but insanity ensued during the second half. It was a high-scoring affair throughout and had some of the best highlight plays. If you don’t know what the Philly Special is, you’ve been living under a rock as an NFL fan. After a reverse, Nick Foles bellied out to catch a wide open touchdown pass. What makes this even more iconic is Tom Brady had a similar play more in the middle of the field, but it bounced off his hands.

That being said, Tom Brady still had a great game. He broke the record for most passing yards in playoff game, but it wasn’t enough. Nick Foles on the other hand had equally as impressive of a performance. He dominated with the RPO offense and made next to no mistakes.

Foles truly earned the nickname of Big Dick Nick. What’s even more odd is this marked the high point of his career. After this game Nick Foles returned to his status as just another guy.
