#5 – Marlon Humphrey

When Lamar Jackson was injured, I thought there is no way in hell that they would continue to win games as frequently. They have garbage receivers outside of Mark Andrews and Tyler Huntley is horrendously bad at making reads. I forgot how good this Ravens defense is, more specifically Marlon Humphrey.

According to PFF, Marlon Humphrey didn’t allow a single touchdown in coverage this season. This is especially impressive considering he found himself covering the slot receiver more than 100 times this season.

It was also his best tackling season. It wasn’t a career high in tackles, but he had the least amount of missed tackles of his career.

#4 – Jaire Alexander

Last season, many people regarded Jaire Alexander as the best cornerback in the NFL. When he was forced out due to injury in week 3, the Packers defense was in shambles without him. You could see the difference once he returned how important he was for this team.

Jaire Alexander is one of the few do-it-all cornerbacks. He can shadow the opponents best Wide Receivers as well as become a run supporting defender.

What makes him so great is his consistency. He never really has any blowup plays or games. He is a tactician with elite athleticism and instincts.

Honorable Mention – Trevon Diggs

Cowboys fans, be prepared to be triggered, if you’re not already triggered that is. When we’re talking about the top 10 best cornerbacks in the NFL, it’s the best of the best. Having Trevon Diggs as an honorable mention does not mean he’s bad, he just wasn’t the best this season.

While it’s clear he has a knack for the football with his ball skills, he takes too many risks. You hear it all the time with defenses. Bend but don’t break. Trevon Diggs falls for double moves way too often. Giving up the big touchdowns completely deflates a defense and he got caught this season.

I believe he has a bright future, but he needs to take more calculated risks. You can’t just bite on every short to intermediate route. He needs to be more disciplined in that approach.
