Honorable Mention – Jaycee Horn
Jaycee Horn will no doubt be on this list in the near future. He has all the makings of a premiere NFL cornerback. The problem is, I needed to make some cuts. He just missed the list this season.
Part of that is because he got injured. If he had a strong finish to the season, I would have included him on this list.
The Carolina Panthers defense is one of the most underrated in the NFL. Jaycee Horn leads this secondary and keeps them competing.
#7 – James Bradberry
James Bradberry and Darius Slay formed to create the best cornerback duo in the NFL and one of the best cornerback duos ever. I was flip-flopping between who to have higher between the two and I ended up settling with James Bradberry to be the first one listed. It’s almost not fair that the rising Eagles were able to get them for so cheap.
When it comes to James Bradberry, he looked more like his Giants self than his Panthers self this season. A change of scenery can do wonders on a players’ performance and James Bradberry clearly made the most of it.
He has speed and length and knows how to use it. It must be nice having such an exceptional pass rushing unit to work with, but clearly Bradberry knew how to make the most of it.
#6 – Darius Slay
Like I said above, I would not fault you at all for having Bradberry above Slay, but I made an executive decision. Big Play Slay is still making big plays.
While we didn’t see the same touchdown machine as years previous, he is still the same stingy defender we all know and love. Just like Bradberry, Darius Slay has length and speed and makes the most of it. When you’re targeting his man, it’s frequently and impossibly tight window Quarterbacks need to hit.
