It’s hard to believe Shannon Sharpe fell all the way to the 7th round in the NFL draft. Teams didn’t know what to do with him as he played Wide Receiver in college, but was too big to play it in the NFL. Moving him to Tight End was one of the best decisions in Broncos history. I’m sure John Elway would agree.
Shannon Sharpe ended up transforming into one of the most lethal receiving Tight Ends ever winning 2 Super Bowls with the Broncos. A product of his system? Nope. He later joined the Ravens to win a 3rd Super Bowl in which he was instrumental.
There is nothing worse than a trash talker who can’t back it up. Sharpe was known for his trash talk, but has a career resume to prove he is one of the best ever. It’s nice to see him parlay his big mouth into a career after football as well. SKKKKIIIIPPPPP.

#3 – Antonio Gates
A touchdown scoring machine. Antonio Gates is the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns for Tight Ends and accomplished that in spectacular fashion.
This is a former college basketball player who had no problem translating his skills onto the football field. He had elite athleticism for his size and used his box out ability to become the most lethal redzone threat in the game.
It’s a shame that through 18 seasons in the NFL he never won a Super Bowl, but I credit that more to the pedestrian Chargers. He was the best Tight End in the NFL for many years, but his supporting cast never allowed him to compete for that ring.
