All-Time Touchdown to Interception Ratio
Passing attacks become more and more efficient each year. Patrick Mahomes is on a historic pace. Not to discredit his clearly superior talent, a lot can be credited to the evolution of the NFL as a whole. This list is the highest touchdown to interception ratio for all-time Quarterbacks.
TIER 1:
Patrick Mahomes (2017-21) – 4.75
It’s clear that Patrick Mahomes is labelled as the up and coming GOAT. Clearly the most talented QB in the NFL today, Patrick Mahomes is a beneficiary of the hyper-efficient NFL passing attacks we watch today. Thank you Andy Reid for giving him the weapons he has.
TIER 2:
Aaron Rodgers (2005-21) – 4.63
If Aaron Rodgers joined the NFL ten years later than he did, I wouldn’t be shocked if he was first on this list. Aaron Rodgers rarely makes mistakes throwing interceptions and this ratio tells that story.
TIER 3:
Russell Wilson (2012-21) – 3.30
It’s wild to see the gap from Aaron Rodgers to the next on this list. It’s worth mentioning that Russell Wilson is not only third on this list, but also one of the best running Quarterbacks in NFL history.
TIER 4:
Tom Brady (2000-21) – 3.04
Here is the actual GOAT. It is crazy that a man who has played this long in the NFL into his forties can still be one of the all-time leaders in an efficiency metric.
TIER 5:
Deshaun Watson (2017-21) – 2.89
Dak Prescott (2016-21) – 2.65
These are the new breed of dual threat Quarterbacks. Not only are these two lethal on their feet, they are great decision makers when it comes to not forcing a ball into tight windows. Just run the ball instead!
TIER 6:
Colin Kaepernick (2011-16) – 2.40
Derek Carr (2014-21) – 2.29
Drew Brees (2001-21) – 2.35
Kirk Cousins (2012-21) – 2.26
Carson Wentz (2016-21) – 2.26
Matt Ryan (2008-21) – 2.20
Steve Young (1985-99) – 2.17
Peyton Manning (1998-15) – 2.15
Tony Romo (2004-17) – 2.12
Andrew Luck (2012-19) – 2.06
Ryan Tannehill (2012-21) – 2.02
Philip Rivers (2004-20) – 2.01
Donovan McNabb (1999-11) – 2.00
What’s that? A Colin Kaepernick sighting? This final tier features a wide variety of players. Shoutout to Steve Young one of the OG running QBs who makes his way on this list even while playing in the 80s and 90s.
