So good a movie there was a movie named after it. Having a good slap shot is a gift and these are the best of the best. These are the best NHL players with the fastest slap shots ever. It would be easy just to go off the skills competition hardest shot times, but there are a couple of players on this list who got the nod without winning that title.
#10 – Vincent Lecavalier
Vincent Lecavalier showed out in the 2008 hardest shot competition, but unfortunately for him he was facing off against Zdeno Chara who took home the title.
It doesn’t take that win to know he is in the elite category. His teammates were always looking to feed him for the one-timer as he not only delivered an extremely fast slap shot, but one on target as well. That’s the difference between a 100+ goal scorer versus a 400+ goal scorer like Lecavalier.
#9 – Sheldon Souray
Unlike Lecavalier, Souray won a hardest shot competition, but it’s obvious the difference. Souray could lay into a slap shot, but is far less elite of a player. Again, the difference between a 400+ scorer and a 100+ scorer (albeit different positions).
What also made his slap shot so great is it was unpredictable. Shoutout to the Mighty Ducks knuckle puck, Souray had an erratic shot.
#8 – Steven Stamkos
Steven Stamkos is one of the best goal scorers of this decade. He is scoring on an impressive rate and a lot of those goals come from his one timer.
Much like Lecalvier, Stankos is a sniper. He does not have an overwhelmingly powerful slap shot like the players in the top 5 of this list, but he could score at a higher proficiency than most.
