NFL Power Rankings 2020

NFL Power Rankings (After the NFL Draft)

2020 NFL Power Rankings with an explanation for each team. This is based on after the 2020 NFL Draft. A lot of big changes from last season. I didn’t want to cop out by having it similar to the standings last year. The NFL always has big changes from year to year and this is my prediction for what will happen. I explain my reasoning below for each team on this these NFL Power Rankings.

NFL Power Rankings (After the NFL Draft)

NFL Power Rankings 2020 (After the NFL Draft)

#1 – Kansas City Chiefs

Rarely do the defending Super Bowl champions retain their dominant success, but I believe in the Chiefs. Mahomes is the real deal and they didn’t lose any of their key pieces while adding dual threat Clyde Edwards-Helaire to this already elite offense.

#2 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I’m usually not one to buy into the hype, but i’m all in on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You can call Tom Brady old all you want, but he can still make the big throws. This is the best offense he has had since his undefeated 2007 season and the Bucs defense has taken a massive leap forward.

#3 – San Francisco 49ers

Losing DeForest Buckner was a hit for this defense, but they keep most of their key pieces. They also added Trent Williams who could make a massive impact for the offensive line. My problem with the 49ers is Jimmy Garropolo. The most I can say is that he is a serviceable Quarterback. I think there were about 15 other starting Quarterbacks last season who if were at the helm would have brought the 49ers a Super Bowl.

#4 – New Orleans Saints

I was very close to putting the Saints up a slot or two, but i’m going to place my bets on the Saints getting screwed by the refs at some point next season. This may be the final season for Drew Brees, but adding Emmanuel Sanders and Cesar Ruiz should pay dividends. Sean Payton is an offensive guru and they will continue to operate at elite efficiency.

#5 – Baltimore Ravens

Call me a hater with this one, but i’m still not completely bought in for Lamar Jackson’s passing ability. He more than makes up for it with his running ability, but the departure of Marshall Yanda will hurt. That being said, I was a big fan of the off-season additions which is why they stay in the top 5.

#6 – Buffalo Bills

People keep sleeping on the Bills and they keep winning. The Patriots have won the AFC East every single season over the past decade, and I think that changes now. Josh Allen has made some questionable decisions so far in his career, but if he settles down, all signs point up for the Bills especially considering the addition of Stefon Diggs.

#7 – Seattle Seahawks

As long as Russell Wilson is the Quarterback for the Seahawks, they will not miss the playoffs. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he wins the MVP this season. My skepticism is with their defense. They were questionable last season and as of today they lost more talent than gained.

#8 – Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have had an elite offensive line the past couple of seasons and their offense just got a lot better. Philip Rivers will make this team much more efficient and I love the talent Jonathan Taylor brings. They were able to win 7 games last season with lackluster Quarterback play.

#9 – Pittsburgh Steelers

Credit Mike Tomlin coaching this team into playoff contention last season. Mason Rudolph was bad and they over-exceeded expectations with a lights out defense. If Ben Roethlisberger is healthy, the sky is the limit for this team. My money is on Big Ben for comeback player of the year and i’m predicting a bounce back season for Juju and James Conner.

#10 – Denver Broncos

It took a couple of really bad calls for the Broncos to miss the playoffs last season. Drew Lock isn’t elite, but he is clearly the answer at Quarterback. I love what the Broncos did this off-season with the addition of Jurrell Casey and Melvin Gordon. They also had one of the best NFL drafts of any team and just made their already under-performing team much better.

#11 – Philadelphia Eagles

I didn’t mind the Jalen Reagor pick in the draft, but Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round did not make this team any better. The 2020 NFL draft was filled with talent and I think they could have done a much better job. Can Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson stay healthy? Who knows.

#12 – Dallas Cowboys

Free agency this off-season was rough for the Cowboys. They lost Byron Jones, Maliek Collins and Robert Quinn while Travis Frederick retired. They made up for it with what I think was the best NFL draft of any team. It’s going to be a battle against the Eagles for top spot in the division.
