How This UFC Title Fight Wins Ranking Works
This is an objective career leaderboard. A fighter receives one win when they defeat an opponent in a recognized UFC championship bout, whether they capture a vacant belt, beat the reigning champion, win an interim championship or successfully retain a title. The victory counts once regardless of division.
Tournament championships and the former UFC Superfight Championship are excluded. WEC, Strikeforce, PRIDE, Bellator and other promotions do not count, even when those victories are part of a fighter’s broader championship résumé. Draws, no contests and title-fight losses also do not add to the win total.
Title fight wins are not the same as successful title defenses. The first victory of a championship reign counts here, as do later wins after losing and regaining a belt. That is why Randy Couture’s repeated championship runs matter so much on this leaderboard.
Jon Jones – 16 UFC Title Fight Wins
Jon Jones owns the record with 16 championship victories across light heavyweight and heavyweight. Fourteen came in UFC light heavyweight title fights, followed by heavyweight championship wins over Ciryl Gane and Stipe Miocic.
Jones’ record combines an unmatched number of championship wins with no official title-fight losses. His 2017 victory over Daniel Cormier was changed to a no contest, so it does not increase the total.
The three-win margin over St-Pierre is significant. A champion could win a belt and defend it twice without fully closing the gap between first and second place.
Georges St-Pierre – 13 UFC Title Fight Wins
Georges St-Pierre ranks second with 13. Twelve came at welterweight, where he avenged his loss to Matt Serra and then controlled the division through one of the longest elite runs in UFC history.
His final victory came four years after his previous fight. St-Pierre moved to middleweight, submitted Michael Bisping and became a two-division champion. That return gave him the only middleweight win in his title-fight total.
Demetrious Johnson – 12 UFC Title Fight Wins
Demetrious Johnson is third with 12, all in the UFC flyweight division. He defeated Joseph Benavidez to become the inaugural champion and then made 11 successful defenses, still the UFC record for one uninterrupted title reign.
Johnson’s total is unusually clean: one championship win followed by 11 straight defenses. He never needed to regain the belt to reach the top three.
Anderson Silva, Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko – 11 Wins
Three fighters are tied with 11 UFC title fight victories, but they reached that number in different ways.
Anderson Silva – 11
Anderson Silva won the middleweight championship from Rich Franklin and made 10 successful defenses. His combination of counter striking, distance control and finishing ability produced a championship run that lasted nearly seven years.
Amanda Nunes – 11
Amanda Nunes collected title wins at women’s bantamweight and featherweight. She defeated a remarkable list of champions, including Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko, Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm, while becoming the first woman to hold two UFC championships simultaneously.
Valentina Shevchenko – 11
Valentina Shevchenko matched Nunes at UFC 322 by defeating Zhang Weili. Her total spans two flyweight title reigns and includes championship wins built through technical striking, countering, takedowns and positional control.
Matt Hughes and Randy Couture – 9 Wins
Matt Hughes and Randy Couture are tied with nine UFC title fight victories. Their totals represent two very different versions of early UFC dominance.
Hughes earned all nine at welterweight. His wrestling, strength and top control made him the defining 170-pound champion before St-Pierre took over the division.
Couture spread his nine wins across heavyweight and light heavyweight. He repeatedly lost or vacated championships, returned to contention and won them again. His victory over Maurice Smith at UFC Japan is part of that total; his UFC 13 tournament victory is not.
José Aldo, Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya – 8 Wins
José Aldo, Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya share ninth place with eight title fight wins.
Aldo’s total counts UFC championship bouts only, not the title defenses from his WEC featherweight reign. Volkanovski reached eight after defeating Diego Lopes twice, first to regain the vacant featherweight belt and then to defend it. Adesanya’s middleweight total includes his interim-title win, his first undisputed reign and his championship rematch victory over Alex Pereira.
The featherweight comparison is especially interesting. Aldo and Volkanovski are level in UFC title wins even though Aldo’s complete championship résumé extends back into the WEC. For the current state of the sport’s biggest division, see the latest UFC heavyweight rankings.
Nine Fighters With 6 UFC Title Fight Wins
The six-win group includes Islam Makhachev, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, Kamaru Usman, Ronda Rousey, Daniel Cormier, Zhang Weili, Alex Pereira, Stipe Miocic and Tito Ortiz.
This is where different championship paths begin to collide. Ortiz and Jędrzejczyk built their totals largely through sustained control of one division. Cormier and Pereira won belts in two divisions. Makhachev combined four lightweight title defenses with a welterweight championship win, while Miocic reached six entirely at heavyweight.
Makhachev has the first opportunity to leave the group. He is scheduled to defend the welterweight championship against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 on August 15, 2026. For more on the division he previously controlled, visit our UFC lightweight rankings.
What the Complete UFC Title-Win Leaderboard Reveals
- No fighter has exactly 10 title fight wins. The list jumps from the 11-win trio to Hughes and Couture at nine.
- No fighter has exactly seven. Three fighters have eight, followed by nine fighters tied at six.
- The four-win cutoff is crowded. Eleven fighters share 29th place, including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Merab Dvalishvili, Dominick Cruz and Rose Namajunas.
- Winning the belt more than once can matter as much as one long reign. Couture reached nine through repeated championship comebacks, while Johnson reached 12 in one continuous flyweight reign.
- Promotion scope changes the historical picture. Aldo’s WEC title wins and other non-UFC championships are intentionally excluded.

Final Takeaway

The expanded leaderboard also shows how rare sustained championship winning is. Only 39 fighters have reached four UFC title fight victories, and just 11 have reached eight.
